In the Spring, the Japan Trip has two focuses. The first is to help the breeders return the koi that were selected to grow out back to the mud ponds. The second is to purchase some of the highest quality tosai to bring back to the USA.

Many breeders have limited space in their mud ponds therefore some of the best Jumbo Tosai are left in the koi houses and are available for purchase. Because of this, the Spring Trip is the best time to buy Tosai and Jumbo Tosai.

Due to the long standing relationships that our team has with the Japanese Koi Breeders, we have access to some of the highest quality tosai from many different breeders.

Weather: You can expect mild temperatures during the day with a bit of a chill in the evenings.

  • Fly to Japan: Meet our team in Tokyo, then take the bullet train to Nagaoka-- the koi capitol of the world.

  • Source Your Dream Koi: With our teams help and long lasting relationships with the breeders, you will be able to hand pick the koi of your dreams.

  • Shipping Home: Your fish will be shipped home alongside our own. We will stay in constant communication about when your fish will arrive at our facility and make arrangements with you to receive your koi. Remember they must remain in quarantine for approx. 30 days.
