Fitz’s Fish Ponds, a premier name in pond construction, is proud to announce that AJ Mandell, Director of Koi Sales, recently visited Garnet Valley Middle School in Glen Mills, PA, to deliver an engaging and educational presentation on Koi Keeping. The event aimed to introduce students to the fascinating world of koi fish, their varieties, and the exciting hobby of koi keeping.
AJ Mandell, a seasoned expert in the field, shared his passion for koi fish and their captivating history, including the different varieties and the unique ways they acquire their names.
The presentation covered a wide range of topics, from the intricacies of koi breeding to the annual koi trips that Fitz’s Fish Ponds organizes to Japan, providing students with a glimpse into the global aspect of the koi community.
During the presentation, AJ Mandell brought the world of koi to life by showcasing live koi directly from Fitz’s Fish Ponds’ farm in Milford, NJ. The presence of these beautiful fish allowed students to experience the stunning colors and patterns up close, fostering a deeper appreciation for the art and science of koi keeping.
Garnet Valley Middle School, with its own pond on campus, proved to be an ideal setting for the presentation. As a koi dealer who often travels to Japan, AJ Mandell’s insights into koi care and pond management resonated with the students, sparking a keen interest in the hobby and the potential for incorporating koi into their own outdoor spaces.
AJ Mandell expressed his excitement about the event, stating, “It’s incredibly rewarding to share my passion for koi keeping with the younger generation. Koi fish are not only beautiful, but also serve as a source of inspiration and connection to nature. I hope that the presentation has inspired some of the students to explore the fascinating world of koi keeping and consider it as a hobby.”
